Common Issues We Treat
There are many orthodontic problems that can work against your overall appearance. Here is a list of some of the most common orthodontic problems that may be bothering you.
Overbite
Both the appearance and the ability of your smile can be impacted by an overbite, which is when the upper teeth excessively cover the lower teeth. This can quickly wear down teeth and cause the lower teeth to bite into the roof of the mouth.
Underbite
If your lower jaw extends beyond your upper jaw, forcing your bottom teeth to sit in front of your upper teeth, you have an underbite. This occurs when the lower jaw outgrows the upper jaw.
Crowding
If your teeth do not have enough space to erupt into the mouth, your teeth can become crowded and crooked. We can create enough room for your teeth to sit comfortably by expanding the jaw.
Spaced Teeth
When you have gaps between your teeth, you may not like the way your aesthetic is affected. Small teeth, missing teeth, a wide dental arch, or other problems can cause spacing issues.
Cross Bite
A crossbite, which is when one or more upper teeth sit behind the lower teeth, can cause problems with jaw growth and overall function. It can occur on both sides or just one side of the mouth.
Open Bite
In an open bite, the upper and lower front teeth do not make contact when the back teeth are clenched. This common problem, often caused by thumb or finger sucking, can make speech or chewing difficult.
Protruding Teeth / Overjet
Protruding teeth is much like an overbite but to a significant degree. It is more common to happen to the upper teeth than lower teeth. Treatment for protruding teeth help the jaw grow harmoniously together and align the teeth and bite. If protruding teeth are not properly treated, the lower teeth can grow larger than normal and cause problems to the top of the mouth in the future.
